Resignifying Play:
‘Play is always a confrontation with Being’
- When we play we overlay the real world with a special world:
- This is an entirely different existence, time, and space separated from our own
- This is an Illusion (Schien) but we are aware they aren’t real
- The play world uses the real world → Real things are given new meanings
Semiotics:

- Can be separated into 3 moments:
- Iconic sign- Shares some characteristics with the objects
- Index sign- Indicates the object through evidences
- Symbol- The sign has a pre-established meaning that’s been agreed upon
